In a far and distant past, I worked at a smoothie bar. This is far less glamorous than it sounds and involved wearing a bright yellow uniform, chucking frozen fruit and something mysteriously called “dairy mix” in a big blender, and violating food safety regulations by ignoring my superiors and surreptitiously taking leftovers home with me instead of throwing them in the bin. I’m an anti-food waste vigilante like that. Those minimum wage days might be behind me now, but I still make a mean smoothie now and then.
Ingredients for 2:
2 ripe bananas
a handful of ripe strawberries
a few drops of lemon juice
- Break the bananas into slightly smaller pieces and put in a bowl.
- Chop up the strawberries,remove the green bits and add.
- Cover all the fruit with a few tbsp of yoghurt.
- Cover everything with milk, add some lemon juice and blend everything to perfection. If you don’t have strawberries, you will end up with a lovely banana smoothie instead.
